Kitchen Remodel - Day 21

The internet was down last night, as was I...

I can't even remember what I did or accomplished yesterday. I do however remember that I suggested that Kevin take the kids home for bath and bed time while I stay alone at the house to work. Bad Idea.

I don't generally believe in ghosts, but there is a small part of me that does and being alone, in a strange house (it doesn't feel like ours yet), with strange sounds, working in a room where I know that a man recently died, FREAKED ME OUT! I was constantly angling my body so that I wouldn't have to have my back to the door in case the spirit floated by!

What an idiot I am, but I have never liked being home alone in any house at night, ever!

Anyway, I managed to mask 2.5 rooms before I ran out of there like a bat out of hell!

I do also remember that both Kevin and I decided that we had officially run out of steam. A friend suggested that we take a one day break from any work, which is a really good idea - only I would die of guilt and anxiety.

Then Kev suggested a job switch - I assemble the cabinetry while he paints. Another great idea, if only I had half a brain left! No amount of instruction will ever make me capable of a task like that. Pathetic....

The photos show Kevin painting the kitchen ceiling, and the nasty green paint, with other greens on top - which all suck. Those top two are from Lowe's. We pick out a swatch, bring it to the guy and ask for a sample can. He gives us some muck that does not even come close to matching and tells us that the colors were not in the computer so he had to color match them. He claims that he did it via the computer, but it looks more like it was eyeballed by someone who is color blind! And of course, it took him about an hour.

So then we had to go to the paint store and buy Benjamin Moore versions of the two of them, and the smallest you can buy is a quart. The pile of full cans that we never intend to use are piling up in the garage and the money continues to flow...
